Market Leading Performance and Lowest Running Costs
Analytik Jena's ICP-MS solutions offer market-leading sensitivity. With these powerful and reliable instruments, laboratories can meet the current challenges of increasing sample throughput or reducing measurement times without sacrificing high analytical precision and reproducibility.
Unmatched detection performance
Excellent mass separation and unmatched detection sensitivity (up to 1500 Mcps/ppm at <2 % CeO) for low abundance isotopes enable the detection of extremely low elemental concentrations, low elemental species concentrations and single particles of less than 5 nm in diameter, as well as offering outstanding precision in the determination of isotope ratios.
Highest sample throughput
In many applications, however, speed of analysis is just as important as detection strength and precision. Higher sample throughput significantly reduces the cost per sample. The unmatched high sensitivity of the PlasmaQuant MS and the resulting precision advantage make it possible to achieve the highest sample throughput in the ICP-MS market with up to 80 samples per hour*.
Powerful plasma flame
The ICP-MS instruments offer excellent plasma robustness, which results in high long-term flame stability. This ensures reliable characterization of samples with high matrix loads as well as minimized drift with changing matrix loads.
Outstanding cost efficiency
The German-made ICP-MS systems are also very economical in daily operation. Compared to other instruments on the market, they consume up to 50 % less argon gas, i.e. approximately 10 l/min. They also achieve a reduction of up to 50 % in plasma operating costs. The combination of detection strength, speed, reduced argon consumption and high throughput translates into a significantly lower cost per sample. In addition, the design of the system - be it the patented spectrometer or the open book design of the entire instrument, which ensures easy and independent accessibility - reduces maintenance requirements.

"We chose PlasmaQuant MS because it offers high sensitivity for the identification of metals from a broad spectrum of liquid and solid samples with diverse and complex matrices. An additional factor is the short analysis time. Argon consumption is low compared with other ICP-MS devices, which has led to substantial costs savings for us." - Blumenfield Science
"In order to answer our questions we need an instrumentation with high detection power, short measurement times, high spectral resolution and spatial resolution. Only instrumentation that fulfills these requirements can help to answer our questions." - University of Münster
Patented Technology and Ingenious Solutions
Uniquely cost-efficient − Eco Plasma
For a wide range of sample matrices from wastewater to organic solvents, the Eco Plasma of the PlasmaQuant MS series offers extremely reliable performance at greatly reduced operating costs. The specially developed plasma system enables ICP-MS operation with less than 9 l/min argon gas with exceptional matrix tolerance, low oxide formation (<2 % CeO+/Ce+), and low formation of doubly charged ions (<3 % Ba++/Ba+). Plasma power from 300 to 1600 W guarantees optimum plasma conditions for every application.
- Robust plasma power
- Lowest operating costs
Reliably on the mark – effective elimination of spectral interferences using iCRC
The unique interference management system with the integrated Collision Reaction Cell (iCRC) allows for the fast, simple and effective elimination of spectral interference in ICP-MS analysis by using the collision and reaction gases helium (He) and hydrogen (H2). Both gases can be added depending on the matrix and greatly improve accuracy. The BOOST technology maintains the sensitivity in gas mode, allowing undisturbed analytes to be measured in gas mode without reducing their detection limits.
- Reliable results through the efficient elimination of spectral interferences
- High productivity due to the fast switching between gases and BOOST technology
- Excellent long-term stability for complex matrices
Unparalleled sensitivity and throughput – ReflexION
The market-leading sensitivity provided by the PlasmaQuant MS instruments guarantees the best detection limits and allows for a significant reduction of the measuring time, all without compromising precision and reproducibility. This is achieved by ReflexION, a patented ion optics system with true 90-degree reflection and 3D-controlled focusing of the ion beam. The ReflexION reflects the ion beam by generating a parabolic electrostatic field. Analyte ions of different sizes and energy are focused on the quadrupole. This ensures a maximum signal for all analyte ions across the entire mass range. Photons, neutrals, and particles pass through the electrostatic field and are removed by the vacuum system.
- High sensitivity due to reflection and focusing of the ion beam on the quadrupole input
- Simple optimization through complete 3D control of the ion beam
- Low background as photons and neutral particles are not reflected
Efficient and versatile – HD Quadrupole
The PlasmaQuant MS is able to quantify all known stable isotopes with its mass coverage of 3 to 260 amu. The HD quadrupole system with a true 3 MHz quadrupole provides outstanding mass separation and superior abundance sensitivity of 2.3x10-8 for m-1 238U with a minimum residence time of 50 µs and a scan speed of 5115 amu/sec. It offers optimal performance for isotope analysis as well as for laser ablation and single particle analysis.
- Powerful isotope analysis due to a market-leading level of mass seperation
- Detection of particles >10 nm in diameter due to ultra-rapid scanning speeds
- Best detection limits due to a low background noise of <1 count/sec
- AMR (adaptive mass range version: for m/z >230 amu resolution >2 amu) for restricted isotope separation optionally available
Flexible and precise – all-digital detection
The AD Detection, all-digital detection, system provides 11 orders of analytical range (0.1–1010 cps) in pulse-counting mode only. This enables a fast and accurate multi-element analysis from ultra-trace to high concentrations in a single measurement and ensures exceptional detector lifetime.
- True wide-range multi-element analysis – 11 orders of analytical range
- Fast stand-by readiness for measurement and simple application – no cross-calibration
- Outstanding detector lifetime
Nitrox: Improved analytical performance in petrochemical applications or for the determination of As and Se
The Nitrox is a fully automatic, mass flow controlled accessory that allows for the online addition of N2 or O2 to the auxiliary plasma gases. Nitrogen is a commonly used gas for improving ICP-MS performance through improved ionization of analytes in plasma, as well as the reduction of polyatomic interferences and matrix effects. The addition of oxygen allows direct analysis of organic solvents, significantly reducing the sample preparation time.
Aerosol Dilution: Efficient analysis of high TDS samples
Aerosol dilution is a simple method of measuring samples with high concentrations of total dissolved solids (TDS) on the ICP-MS without the need for complex sample dilution. Analytik Jena's Aerosol Dilution enables direct analysis of samples with high TDS values, such as seawater.
